Default Gulf report 7-27

I took John Chapman hobies Eastern Regional Team fishing guy out into the gulf to do some bottom fishing. The day started out with me catching my biggest black snapper I have ever caught at 19 inches. We tried some of my different spots catching snapper here and there until we get to my honey hole where I pulled up a 24 and half inch grouper. We catch some more snapper when I decided to throw out a live cig on a king set up and before I know it I have a fish taking me straight down. It gets into the wreak and I am trying to get it out when my rod breaks ouch! Well I still was working to get the fish up broken poll and all and it ends up being a 26 and half inch snapper. All and all I caught 11 snapper and 2 groupers. John caught 8 nice snappers for the day.

Great job on the big snappers! Sorry about your pole. Of course, that was also a huge yak grouper (big enough 3rd place for the year in Kayak Wars: Top Ten Species List - Kayak Wars - Online Kayak Fishing Tournament) Sounds like you showed "Chappy" a good time!

Alex the rod is busted I will show it to you the next time your over for a beer. If anyone sees a blue hobie bag floating around in the gulf it is Chappy's he lost it out of his yak. If not it will become a small reef

Bummer, did the surf claim the bag? Always gotta sacrifice something to Posidon whether it be pride, tackle, skin+blood, or a combination of all the above...
