You can shoot through hull with down imaging systems, but not sidescan. My system has downvision on my trident 13 and reads fine. I am planning on getting a sidescan this year though.

Here's my personal favorite side scan:

Ended up going for the 5" kvd model. It was for 445ish on amazon prime. It'll be here nlt tuesday. !. Weather is also supposed to be slightly warmer next weekend.
