Default Got my first kayak today...Ascend fs12t

Hi everyone. I took the plunge and have decided to try my hand at kayak fishing. I picked up a kayak at BPS. I drive a 4 dr sedan with no roof rack, so I got the inflatable roof rack. Mixed thoughts on it. As it comes out of the box you will definitely need to get additional straps.

The kayak looks nice and seems to fit my intended needs based on other reviews. One question for anyone familiar with them... There are two recessed screw slots on the inside side just forward of the seat. Any idea what is supposed to screw in? As far as I know, there was not any part which came with the yak that looks to fit in there.

I live in Orange Beach and will be watching to see if any others nearby will be heading out to fish and would not mind some company. Until then, good luck fishing to all.

I fish out of GS and OB a lot and your welcome to join me some this season.

As far as those slots, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. If you wanted to, bring the yak by our store (Sam's on canal rd) and I'll check it out and maybe give you some other rigging suggestions.

Great, thanks for the invite and offer. I will try and stop by some time, if for nothing else to say hi. This kayak is pretty sporty to lift on the car solo without scratching anything. I guess it will take some practice and a little exercise probably would help as well.

Look forward to meeting you and fishing with you. What are you fishing for currently and where?

Welcome aboard 1st, and congrats on your 1st yak!!! Not too sure w/ the screws, have you checked the website to see if you can get a schematic of the yak and it may tell ya. Ohhh weee talking about weight, I load me and Logan's yaks on racks on my truck...14 and a 12 ft'r. It takes a bit of work to get em on there w/out jacking up anything.....and remember straps are your friends....You can never have enough!!!!
