Default Coming for another try at kayaking in FL.

Anyone fishing offshore/inshore this weekend? The last time I came to Pensacola I was fortunate enough to encounter record flooding and storms for 3 days. I really hope that doesn't happen this time but I need to find a fishing partner for a day or two this coming weekend September 7-9th.

I'm will be chilling at the Holiday Inn on Pensacola beach but I can drive down the coast to Nevarre or head over to Ft. Pickens. I'm The out of towner so I'll go where you locals suggest.

On another note, I forgot to mention in the OP, the Emerald Coast Beer Festival is this weekend. Anyone going? I'll be there dressed in pirate garb pouring drinks and mingling.

Nevarre sounds cool. I have never been out there but all my reading on this forum leads me to believe that is that place to be for offshore in that area.

My little plastic life raft is a Jackson Cuda.
My reels are rigged up with 30lb power pro braid. Would that be sufficient or should I go with a stronger test? Suggestions on leader material as well would be helpful.

Ok, I have some king rigs and plenty of wire leaders.

The Cuda is spectacular! Besides being pretty well rigged from the factory with the rod holders, stagers and little things it is pretty damn comfortable to sit in for hours and it is actually quite fast.
I am interested in checking out the new kayaks that Jackson has coming out this fall. One draw back of the Cuda that I don't particularly need for marsh fishing is the center rod hatch. This weekend will be my first time offshore so I have never had a reason to put my rods inside the kayak for protection in the breakers. Aside from that the rod hatch just is kinda in my way when there is a 25" redfish flapping around on the deck. So, the new Cruise might be a good fit for my marsh fishing time.
