Default btb arsenal

If you could have three rods for offshore trolling and casting at pelagics, what would they be? Size reel, test line, and lures/terminal tackle. Trying to build my arsenal for the year.

two shimano speedmasters on Ugly Stik big water custom 7' live bait rods. We have these at Broxsons.

For throwing, any 7-8' rod that can handle up to a 3oz lure weight. Im a HUGE fan of the Penn SSV series reels.

Also, just a tip, no one calls it BTB here.

I've had my balls busted for saying I'm going "offshore" but I guess it should be obvious when I'm posting that in the kayak section. Thanks jd. Just trying to cover everything from throwing at spanish to mahi or cobia and trolling from kings to sails or bft. can I use the same equipment for all species or have to switch it up depending on the target

The trolling combos I mentioned will easily handle anything you're going to run into in the gulf. I load them with 500 yards of 20lb mono.

For pitch rods/throwing lures a rod that will throw a small gotcha well won't throw a cobia jig or large sling jig well. Personally, because I will rarely waste time on Spanish, I'd have a rod capable of throwing the larger stuff and make do with that for throwing the smaller stuff if I had to vs trying to throw something bigger st a bigger fish with a smaller rod.
