Default beach yaking questions

I've been surf fishing the last few years when we come down to the area but plan on bringing my yak down this time. It's a old town copy of the OK Scrambler xl. I figure a couple of these questions will sound stupid to to seasoned big water yakers but I'm going to ask anyway.

How far out do I need to go to catch something besides whiting, catfish and baby shatks?

Will the waves carry me out to sea, to the beach?

Do I need to use an anchor out there, how big?

What do you catch off the beach first week of June?

What is standard etiquette between yak fishermen and yak surfers, swimmers, bigger boats, beach fishermen? Any laws pertaining to these? I'll be in Ft Morgan btw

What do you do with fish you want to keep while your out?

Would my time be better spent in Navy bay?

How far out do I need to go to catch something besides whiting, catfish and baby shatks? - You dont need to go too far as mackerel can be caught outside the bar but in reality, even for beginner yakkers going out a mile and back is much easier then you would think as long as the weather is good.

Will the waves carry me out to sea, to the beach? - Depends on the wind. In June the wind will pretty much always be coming out of the south so eventually youll be blown back to the beach, however it probably wont be were you launched.

Do I need to use an anchor out there, how big? - No, I never use an anchor in the Gulf. Some people but you dont really ever have to.

What do you catch off the beach first week of June? - Mackerel will be there, maybe even some mahi depending on the water. Snapper should be open too.

What is standard etiquette between yak fishermen and yak surfers, swimmers, bigger boats, beach fishermen? Any laws pertaining to these? I'll be in Ft Morgan btw - If there are surfers out, you wont be yakking. If you are in an area with high boater traffic make yourself as visible as possible. If some one is surf fishing dont yak through their lines. Common sense stuff really.

What do you do with fish you want to keep while your out? - cooler or insulated fish bags are most popular.

Would my time be better spent in Navy bay? - I dont fish inshore so I couldnt help you out.

Thanks for the help. I've got very little experience. Had a little 10' pescador for a while and have fished really small water only. Got the bigger boat just because I wanted to bring it down there. Still got 6" of snow on the ground so I won't be getting the new one wet any time soon.
