Thanks for the report. Anyone know what the chances are of hooking into a bull red this time of year in the daytime at 3m?

I was at the ribbon cutting for the Pensacola Bay Fishing Bridge and I believe that was you paddling back towards the launch at 17th Ave. Glad you caught something, it didn't look too fit for fishing out there today.

David,

Nice job. I'm glad to have been of service. The good thing about fishing for white trout is there is no real directed fishery for them plus their reproductive rates are so high. There are usually so many of them around that bridge that they'll eat just about anything that you throw at em, so long as it's moving.

Bring a big rod rigged up with a 2-3oz egg sinker and a 6/0 or bigger circle hook next time. Hook a small white trout in the nose and drop it straight down under you. When it hits bottom crank it up a couple feet so it doesn't get hung on anything. Go back to fishing for trout and wait for a Red to eat. Just make sure your drag isn't locked down otherwise your whole kayak might get rocked hard if you get a hit.
