Default Well, I took the shot!

And missed the biggest deer in a long time. Granted it was a LONG shot at a moving deer chasing a doe on the move!

Me and Lettheairout where at our trucks getting ready to go into our hunting area when we saw does running! Then a buck came out! By the time I could get settled on the hood of my truck and a round chambered, he was about 290-300 yards! He was still trotting after the doe!

I squeezed and let one go! He moves behind some brush and we don't see him come out the other side! Buddy goes for a walk to see if he can either check or flush him while I have the bead on the brush!

No blood! No nothing! He lives to keep chasing! I whiffed! I knew it was a long shot! But man, he was a good one!

This was at about 2pm today! They are chasing boys and girls!

Antler restrictions are paying off in blackwater. No he wasn't a 5" spike last season but being able to survive a season has made him a bit smarter. He was a wall hanger no doubt. Not sure he will survive that mistake again.

It happens... I missed 3 different bucks this morning chasing hard... fml. My cousin killed a 6 point that was pushing one around. He was lucky and got the deer to stop. I wasn't that lucky, no matter how loud I yelled at them stupid things... they had doe pooty on the brain

I assume this was in BW? Haven't seen any chasing in YR. Still seeing does all alone and lonely.

Just fixing to hit the bed to go at it in the morning! But yes went home. I watched a small 4 point feed for a little while about 4:15pm or so. He was alone and cruising through and stopped for a snack.

One area I hunt in BW, I have taken two buddies. Took one one afternoon and he shot a buck! Took another buddy the very next day and put him in the same tree and he shot a buck! Nothing fancy for either one. Actually both had one side broken off with the other side forked and about 16" long main beams.

This area has a trail about 1/2 a mile long with scrapes every 20 yards!!!! Fresh and well used scrapes! Rubs all over the place right now in this hole too!

My freezer is getting filled with my daughter getting her first this year! So I may pop one more meat deer. But it's mostly antler hunting now!

The crazy part was the does saw us and took off at a little faster pace! That buck didn't even turn his head our way! He was hot on them does! When I made the shot, I pretty much knew I didn't hit him because his stride didn't even change and he just kept on like he didn't hear the shot at all!

Hope so, I'm setting the alarm and hoping the bed doesn't win!

I think this extreme cold is going to set it off like gang busters. I've already warned my wife she won't see me much this week. Or next.
