Nice how many are you allowed up there? Are they chasing hard yet. Seemed like they hadn't gone into full chase mode when we left Kentucky.

Your allowed 2 antlered deer in Illinois which is nice, they were rutting pretty hard early November this year, usually itís mid November where I hunt, but they were going pretty good early then died off and just started going good again

I almost had a shot at a giant 8 pt this morning, he was with a doe but they were 240 yards out and I had a muzzle loader so it was a no go, I was needing them around 150 or less, didnít happen, so I had my wife bring me lunch, ate in the truck for 30 minutes then went back to the stand, I was on the edge of a field but this buck stayed in the thick stuff around the edge, slipping right to me, shot him at about 6 yards with a muzzle loader and he ran probably 100 yards onto the neighbors in the thickest crap he could find, it was a hell of a recovery. In the past I have been passing on these size bucks, taking pictures or videoing them then going home with expensive tags in my pocket, I finally realized Iím not a pro hunter or provideographer and I was missing out on some fun experiences passing these deer, no they might not be what people go to Illinois for but we arenít always given the monsters to shoot at, Iíve passed on these sized deer because I had a pic of a monster that never showed, so now I finally tagged out for the first time and had a blast, a lot of folks forget about hunting for the experiences and memories and just hunting inches, to each their own hunt for whatever makes you happy but I found myself not having as much fun as I used to, I would go at it hard and wear myself out and go home aggravated,so this early season I took it a little easier and definitely had an awesome time

That is a great deer! That body, looks like a 250lb plus. I'd never pass that one up.
