I WOULD NEVER own an excaliber again.Loud bulky awkward crossbows.its 100 year old technology that flat out sucks.
If you want the best of the best in the crossbow world its going to be scorpyd.Light compact and super fast and retarded accurate.
I shot a tenpoint vapor before and oit was nice.shot really good but was a 2000 dollar crossbow and weighed alot and was HUGE.
When i want accuracy and light weight and when i sit in the stand. The last thing i want is a crossbow next to me that is like having another person up there with me.
Yea, I reread the article. TenPoint bought Horton parts and machinery after they went belly up for some unknown reason. The founder of TenPoint was one of the original owners of Horton if I remember right. Basically TenPoint bought all Horton's patent rights and never had any intention of reopening the factory.
Like I said, I misread the article and they have nothing to do with Parker. I have never had an issue with my $700 Turbo XLT II.

You should really take a look at the PSE FANG. Most places have it for $299.00. I just got one and am VERY impressed. Has some features only found on more expensive bows. 345 FPS, has string stops (not found on many lower priced bows) and makes a BIG difference. It does come with a scope, but not a very good one, but for the price, you just can't go wrong on this crossbow in my opinion.

horton never really a patent worth a shit.they stole reverse draw from Jim Kemph that invented reverse draw scorpyds.horn ended up paying big money for the settlement and got patent rights wich ten point bought.we was all waiting on a bad ass rdt bow from ten point when it happened but they never delivered.just a horton storm that's a pice of crap that won't shoot that great unless u do a bunch of work to it.

Ok TatSoul,

My son is an experienced gun hunter and now wants a good crossbow. I don't want to buy a beginner one and have to buy another one a year later. Please lead me in the right direction the first time. He is in his late 30's and a big boy in size.

Thanks,

Keith

If you are looking for a quality crossbow right of the box, get a TenPoint XLT Turbo II (345 fps). The 3xProView Scope (not really a scope per sey) have a red/green glow option that can be turned off and on (don't forget to turn it off).
If money is an concern, the Titan Extreme is just a bit slower (333 fps) but just as reliable. Both packages come with the ACUDraw system which is a must in a tree stand in my opinion.

There are many good crossbows on the market right now as they are growing in popularity and like guns, you can get the low end, affordable range or the elite caliber, just all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

I've been using TenPoint since 2008 and it has never let me down.

I just bought my wife a PSE Fang. I was looking at this one and the Barrnett Jackel. The reason I went with the PSE Fang was because it was faster by 40fps and it came with the cocking rope. The jackel was cheaper but it did not come with the cocking rope which would have been about the same price between the 2. I paid $300 and it comes with everything ready to shoot
