well see first you got to get all keyed up and ask yourself "who - who am I? what - what are we hunting? what is our quarry? where - where are we hunting? in the woods!"
Broadheadstiffshaft and Fishing Grandpa like this.

Check out the map for Blackwater, WMA https://myfwc.com/hunting/wma-brochures/nw/blackwater/ ....look up Sat. imagery of the area. Pick some creek bottoms and go check them out.
It's my first year hunting in the area and I've had a pretty tough time. Found a good amount of sign this summer, sat in those areas and saw 1 doe in like 5 sits. Didn't see anything on my last 3, and just saw another doe this morning. I would recommend OnX maps. The app is awesome for finding public land, and marking waypoints while you are out scouting and hunting. You just have to get out there and pound the ground. I walked a new trail I found today after I climbed down and kicked up some out of a thicket...plan to hunt that spot here soon. Access in Blackwater is pretty easy, there are logging roads everywhere. Just drive down one park off to the side and walk in. I'm assuming you have your hunters safety course, WMA permit, license and all that. |

Just get up early and go sit at the intersection of Hwy. 90 and 87. When a Chevy truck comes by follow him to his spot.
