Default Hunting from ground

Gonna try hunting from ground tomorrow in a low lying area near my house. Any tips besides being still and quiet, good camo, try to sit with some brush/tree behind me? Is it best to walk in when pitch black or when itís getting slightly light out? I feel like I should walk in when I can see a little around 0615 or so? Any thoughts? I donít have a spot picked out just an area

I always sit with a tree to my back. As far as what time should you walk in your gonna get a ton of different answers. I say walk in when YOU are ready and comfortable especially since you dont have a spot picked out.

Id say when you can see enough to go without a light. Wear orange at that time of day for sure. I have sat the ground, but gets sore, Id take a chair, small knife or pruning sheers make a brush blind, be still by 0700

My dad sits on the ground all the time because his knees wont allow him to climb much. He has had success walking in well before light and sneaking in just after light. Besides the wind, he has always paid attention the blind itself. He always sits with his back to a tree and brush around and behind him to break up his silhouette.

My best stand is a folding chair, shooting sticks, and a camo net to drape over my legs and feet. Be comfortable and you won't move as much. A nap from time to time may occur.

If you donít have something already setup go at first light so you can setup so you have some shooting lanes. I wear camo coveralls, face net and gloves. I always spend 5 minutes piling up brush around my chair. Arm sized logs that break up your outline work best. Just lean 4 or 5 limbs up as close as you can to yourself without affecting gun movement. Set up on a scrape this afternoon and had 5 walk right past me. One doe saw me but I didnít move and she couldnít figure me out and lost interest. Itís just me but if a deer sees me I squint so they canít see my eyeballs. I think deer are stupid but my big pretty eyes seem like they might give me away. Be still. Good luck

I would do as Tryn says since he has killed several deer this year from the ground. Only other tip I have is use a scent killer. I spray my clothes and use EverCalm.
