Default Finally got my first deer

Hopefully I don't get flamed too hard for shooting a yearling buck....but after never getting a shot all last season I was dying to put some meat in the freezer. I sat about 20 times last year and never got an opportunity.

He walked right to me, and I thought about not shooting him, but I knew I'd kick myself if that was the only opportunity I had this year. He stopped at 12 yards and turned broadside so I let it fly. He ran about 20 yards, stopped for about 5 seconds and fell right over.

I'm conflicted, but at least I have some tender meat.

Can’t eat horns! Congrats I’ve yet to get one with the bow, on my third season so needless to say if there’s no spots I’m going to send it.

Congrats! Never feel bad for harvesting a legal deer, especially with archery gear.

You would need a tractor trailer to drag off all the spikes I've killed... they taste great! Good job!!!

Congrats on your first, donít be conflicted, you got your first with a bow! Thatís awesome, my first bow kill was a button buck when I was 20 years old and I was pumped like a 10 year old kid with his first deer, so enjoy it and hopefully there are many more to come

Thanks guys,

Now I've got it quartered out and in a cooler with ice with the drain open. How long would yall let it sit on ice before preparing for the freezer?
