I've passed a legal deer on almost every hunt prior to shooting a good buck. So I do a lot of watching.

I only need 2-3 deer/year to keep the freezer full, so I can be really selective. If I ever need a doe, I usually shoot one in the woods (not food plot) and do so late in the morning when my hunt is almost over.

I talk a good game but if it's legal - BANG!
Had a friend that used to say

I passed on a basket 6 last week, a big "spike" (spikes curved out past the ears) and several does lately.

I'm in buck (a good one) now.
