Default Deer with mange

Have any of yall ever killed a deer with mange? I noticed his coat looked different but when I drug him out I thought it was missing. This is a first for me, I have heard of it but never seen it. From what I can find on Google it's a parasite and it does not affect the meat just the hair and skin.

I've got em with cysts all over em and sent samples to FWC and nothing wrong with em so I wouldn't think anything would be wrong with the meat due to a skin allergy/illness. Ifin it was just in one spot I would think it may be from road rash of being hit by a car...

Looks like he survived from being a Road Kill at one time.

This wasnt road rash, this mange was everywhere. He did have a little bit of normal hair on his sides but not much. From what I have read it is common in high fence places but rare in the wild. This deer was killed in Brooklyn AL and I dont have any trail cam pics of him or other deer with this condition.

I had an FWC biologist look at one and they said it was fine.

Mange.*Mange: While demodectic*mange*is not as common or as sever as Blue Tongue,*mange*does affect whitetail*deer*populations in some states and Canadian provinces. ... Because this wildlife disease does not reside anywhere but on the skin, the meat of a*deer with mange*is still*safe*for human consumption.
