Default Blackwater Hogs

Anybody had any luck with hogs in Blackwater. Spent 3 days out there scouting, and doin some still hunting but didn't see a whole lot of fresh hog sign. Just lots of thick brush and thickets. Lots of good spots but no traces. I tried up north by coldwater creek past three notch rd, all along bud bass rd off of norman riley and down the blackwater river by rileys bluff but no luck. Maybe its just too hot and the only way to get them during the summer weekend hunts is with dogs at night??? Gonna try out the Hutton Unit by the BW river in a few weeks, heard some good things about that area being ripe with hogs. Also heard good things about Escambia river and north yellow river during small game season and parts of Eglin. Anybody had any luck? Most parts of the local WMAs are more easily accessed and hunted with boats? Just tryin to bag some hogs before the other seasons pick up and the WMAs become too crowded. Any advice is appreciated.

Shot one with my bow last year in the Hutton Unit. I would look for pooling water from the rain or mud especially with how hot is has been. That is if you are going to the Hutton Unit outside of that your guess is as good as mine.

Yeah Hutton holds the most oinkers in blackwater. Look at a few aerial pics and find the wet weather ponds in there. Evening time they should be moving towards the food plots.

Wait, hogs are easy to pinpoint on eglin? I hunt in the western portion by highway 87. Are they spread all through out or are they more populated in certain areas?

I think most of the hogs on Eglin are in the swamps of the waterways that pass through the reservation. They stay close to water.

I've hunted the north end of blackwater for 20 years and have never seen one. I know they come through from time to time but not near as thick as they are just on the other side of the AL line.
