Default Big Bucks Down - a shame

FWC recently pulled these out of a pond on St Andrews State Park. I'm pretty sure the bigger one is the one in the first picture from 2014.

I know this happens each year but to have these 5 and 6 year old bucks (guessing) have this sort of death just bothers me.

Why did FWC pull them from the pond?
That is natures doing and they should have been left there.
You or I pull them and we go to jail.

They were in the bay. The FWC also cut the heads off and kept the horns

I'm not really sure why people think it is a shame. It's just nature being nature. Is it a shame because a hunter didn't get to take the animals or that two animals did what they do and unfortunately the antlers locked and they likely drowned?

Probably to have them sent to a biologist to have them tested for age, weight, antler size, diseases, etc. Dead deer make it an easier way for biologist to get samples without having to go out in the woods tranquilize a deer, draw blood etc.

It's a shame that they died before someone could kill them.
