Default Suggestions Needed for Tricking Out a Riffe

Just bought my third gun, a Riffe Competitor 2XS.

Any suggestions on modifications or changes to trick it out ? ( Speed load setup, shaft / tipchange ect.)

It came with a screw on Riffe spear tip that doesn't have a flopper retainer ring so you have to turn the spear around and run it back through the fish rather than just engaging the flopper retainer and pullingthe shaft back though. I like the speartip, but without the flopper retainer ring it makes it more difficult to remove the spear from the fish, a potential problem with a larger "non-stoned" fish.

What spear tip set upsare you using or would recommend?

Also I figured out when reloadingafter you run the line under the tab and over the shaft you can double up the line and wrap one time for a semi speedload (similar to a Spearfishing Specialties Sea Hornet / AB Biller setup but without the little bungie). Any other ideas on faster/improved loading ?

Thanks for your time fellow Spearos !

Get a Biller tip if you have the same threads, I forget which ones they are, there are 2 different threads. Get a rotating tip also, less stress on the shaft, and less tangles in the cord!

I ordered mnine with the next smaller shaft, and I love it. Lighter shaft means morespeed and rangewith same bands, shorter shaft means less possibility for shaft "whip" or flex, and also means overall short profile of the gun easier to swing around.

I also got the thicker 5/8th bands. Loading all 3 on the rear shaft proves for some extrem power (and recoil) and lets you put the shaft all the way thru the fish!

I also have one more secret suase recipe for a Riffe, which I have not yet done, but will soon. Will make your Riffe as easy to reload as a JBL! As sson as I make the modification, I will post pics and how to!

I don't have a Riffe, but I saw this at the spearfishing seminar at MBT. Riffe has a "speed swivel" or something like that on the shockcord that your just unsnap and unthread quickly, pull the shockcord through the fish and rethread the setup and snap it closed. You should be able to figure it out if you checkout your system and think about it now that you know what to look for. I personally think this setup is faster than using the old flopper retaining ring and pulling the shaft back through the fish. Good luck, go kill something!
