GoPro Red Filter
Has anyone used the red lens filter for dives? I'm curious if it works well and what the drawbacks are.

I use the backscatter magic filter with my gopro when diving in the Caribbean. For those purposes, it really works magic. The majority of the time on these dives is above 60'. I don't have time to spend editing my videos. I noticed a major improvement in the video quality when I added the filter. I also use a Sola 500 light.
I have yet to use this setup in the gulf, which I hope to remedy next month. My guess is that for most dives, it won't provide much benefit unless you throw quite a bit of light. If you are diving the Destin or PC jetties, yeah you would probably notice a pretty significant improvement in the quality of the video. Going down to 80'-100' and spearfishing...it would probably be a waste.
