Default Where are the sharks when you need them?

Some of my EPA buddies are in town and they wanted to try out their new SharkShields. They asked if I could take them to a place with sharks so they could try them out. I said with confidence, "If we take a speargun to a public wreck, finding sharks will not be a problem."

Every notice that deer are everywhere until the morning when deer season opens…then you can't find any? Well I shot some fish on the Avocet and made a bloody mess trying to attract a shark. We left our SharkShields off. After over two hours in the water (rebreather), a small sandbar shark showed up briefly and then disappeared. We went to YDT 14 and tried again. A few sharks showed up but they kept their distance, just at the edge of sight.

Although we did not get a chance to test out their SharkShields, my friends had fun and I brought home fish for dinner.

Should have went to the Pete Tide. Those two sharks seem to always be there.

Clint - Yes, I like the setup of the Scuba 7 too. I'm not sure why the manufacturer recommends the Freedom 7 over the Scuba 7 for most diving scenarios. My guess is that the range may be somewhat less on the Scuba 7, since the electrodes are closer together.

From the SharkShield website:
"The Shark Shield SCUBA7 personal shark deterrent system has been designed typically for scientific divers working in shallow inter-tidal zones with considerable water movement. All other forms of Scuba diving generally use the universal FREEDOM7 unit."
