What a great day. We left for the big blue around 10 and the weather and water were awesome. I'll post the rest of the trip later, but on the way in we stopped at the Mayor for Josh's first bout with a gun. He missed both trigger he was shooting at, but it was more because I forgot to show him how to hold the gun. He was thinking about a rifle, not a speargun. We did wind up killing them both, but not before mr. grey suit showed up. 5 foot bull. The boy didn't even flinch. I am so impressed. Sorry if I sound proud, but what a feeling. Will post the rest of the bag later but overall had a fantastic day . If you happen to hit the Mayor in the next few days, see if you can find my brand new Intova light.

Here's the rest of the story...
We headed out to some hard bottom about 22 miles out and Me and Mike (my other diver) headed to the bottom while the kids stayed on top with another friend. They caught mingos while we were looking for something bigger. I was messing with a few lion fish when this scamp came right up to me and begged me to shoot him in the face. So I did. Got him on the stringer and then killed a white snapper. Time to go up. Unfortunately, while messing with the snapper my lionfish spear fell out of my bag, and i didn't realize until I hit the surface. I waited about 45 minutes and bounced down and retrieved it. The adult fisherman was getting queasy so we headed in to find a few triggers. I know a spot. We decided to bounce it, too, one at a time. First diver in and he came up with his limit. I then rolled in but couldn't find the spot....came up with nothing. It was late and Josh wanted to get a dive in so we headed to the mayor Lane Gilcrest Rubble. What a great kid dive. Pretty clear and lots of small fish. Hit 2 keeper AJ that wouldn't stay on the spear and killed a few trigger. We had zero current all day and the water was spectacular. In fact, on our way out this morning we stopped just East of the pass in 12' of crystal clear water (never seen it that clear here) and swam with the massive dolphin pods. If you haven't been on the pond lately...now is the time. Do it.

Nothing like seeing kids smiling in fishing pictures. Sounds like he loves to get wet. We grew up snorkeling/diving in the keys for two weeks every summer growing up during lobster season. I bet he would love to pull a few bugs with you. Man I miss those days, need to go pull some old pictures out.
