Default Headed to Islamorada for a week starting saturday

I was wondering if there was anyone on here from around there, or anyone can give me some advice. I am wanting to do some diving for sure and possibly spearfishing. I am willing to split gas if anyone lives down in that area or a charter either one. I will be getting down there on April and staying a week. thanks in advance for any advice

I am not able to go, but do you mind if i ask how you are getting down there? Are you driving? I mapquested it and it is a LONG way down there. Florida is a big state. I have been thinking of heading that way soon, let us know how it goes if you do go!

I fished off The Huntress out of Marathon before. Great boat with experienced captain and mate. They would probably do a dive charter if you asked but I think they are one of the more pricier charters in the area.

We have driven it many times- usually take I-10 to 75 to the turnpike. Hint: get a Sunpass for the toll booths if you can afford to- it will be a big convince. It is about a 12 hour drive- straight thru. **FHP likes the turnpike. We spent about $350 round trip for fuel - average for our SUV fully loaded. You can still find a couple of the old motels and resorts for a decent price (around $100-$150 / night) - just have to be careful not to end up in a dump.

If you were Military or had someone military with you Key West would be the spot. Everything there from campsites to house rentals. every water sport you would want. I always take the slow route never in a hurry. I go 10-75 and get off 75 just at the crossover toll road and take tamiami trail across the everglades to 997 then down the keys. Takes a lot more than 12 hours but the scenery is better and a lot better on the nerves and machinery. Just honk when you zoom buy me and I will wave at you when you have to stop at the next gas station. Have a great trip.
