Default Dive report Monday 12-2

After fishing Sunday and seeing how good the conditions were I decided to play hooky and go diving. Derik and I headed out monday to perfectly calm seas. We spotted many turtles lounging on the surface, apparently asleep- the waves were so small that all of the turtles backs were dry! We arrived at the first spot (cm holes natural bottom) with blue water. I painted my anchor line in 100’ increments, going down the anchor line reaching a measured 100’mark I looked back and could still see the boat. Best vis I’ve seen here in a while. About 30’ from the bottom the water color changed from blue to green, the vis was 60’. It was 70.5° on top and 70°F on bottom. There was absolutely no current on top, a little on the bottom. We headed over to some bridge rubble, conditions were the same there. After filling the boat with fish the day before, mingos (hook and line) I wasn’t looking to spear much, but we did take two nice triggers, an almaco and one lobster. We made it back just as it got dark, which was a good thing as the temp was dropping fast.

it was a shovelnose. We maxed at 105', I think you have to go deeper if you want to find spinys. I haven't seen many of them.

Nice report, thanks for sharing!
I love diving in the "winter", the viz and big fish are amazing.
