A different hunt.
Well as most could tell I do a lot of Freediving........I normally have a big assortment of gear close by. This day I decided to bring out the bodysurfing fins (which are kept in my truck year round) and just embrace the water that calls to me. My wife and I just wondered out off the second sandbar around (20-25ft) just watching the life unfold and looked for shells. We were not diving the park east reef this was just a day we decided to look for shells on the beach and figured since we had our bodysurfing fins and masks in the truck, might as well go for a swim! Need less to say we stacked up some sand dollars, watched Spanish gorge on bait, some fat bonito swim by, and nice size king slow swimming like a creepy cuda and a turtle that seemed to enjoy 15minutes of our company. The turtle got close enough for me to just rub his back, getting so stoked we just swam all sorts of dance like patterns with this turtle. Pretty cool experience, normally they just come close to check you out then continue on.
So as I'm sitting here on a boat with three weeks to go till I get some time off, I wanted to share with everyone what a good time I have every time I'm off! This one was just special to have my wife see her first under water turtle, and demand my dives to retrieve her shells! She has a good eye for them too!
I hope every one has had a good summer, hunting season is around the corner and cobia won't be far away!!!!!
