Default Black snapper

Any tips on spearing black snapper? Today i was not able to get anywhere near them, they were too skittish. Do you just have to wait them out? Or do you have to chase em down?

Wait and try to outsmart them, you'll never catch them by swimming after them. Identify and shoot as fast as possible. I wanted to shoot a couple today but they were only a few feet away, in a ship and I had three bands pulled back on my 3x Riffe, felt like I would lose my shaft if I took the shot.

Alot of times they will scatter and hide so i just wait them out until they come back out to investigate.

Gotta play the waiting game most the time. They're a hard fish to chase down. Chum the up, when they all get fired up, they spook less

Easiest fish to target spearing. Get a flashlight and a pole spear. Their intelligence makes them vulnerable, they run and hide but usually stack up in any hole close by. Like shooting fish in a barrel...

They are frightened by bubbles, so manage the amount of noise you make. You can either shoot them in their hiding spot as BlueH20Fisher mentioned or wait them out. If you decide to wait the out, stay above their hiding spot. They do not often look up when they swim out.

One of my favorite target fish. They will come back out if you wait. They are especially territorial and they will chase each other out of hiding and protect their hiding spot. Plus, you can shoot them down to 10" so you don't have to worry about size. If it's big enough to eat, it's big enough to shoot.
