Default Best reel for a riffe

Hey my buddy wants a reel for his 48'' Riffe. I was gonna get him one but im not really sure which one to get. I heard the rob allens were good and not to expensive. Im lookin to spend less the $100 on it. Should I get the reel online or would MBT or Dive pros have one?

We don't usually use reels here in the panhandle.
A fish that is allowed to remain at leash length or more for very long will certainly either find a hiding spot that you cannot retreive it from.....or find a sharp object to cut the line on.
If its a Christmas gift you are looking for.....I'd get them an extra spear shaft...or some nice Kevlar gloves.

I agree.

A Riffe Ice Pick tip or two would also make a good present. They can save you both a shaft and tip when shooting large fish.

Also, a reel is a good way to feed the sharks around here.
If he is a free diver the story may be different, but personally I woundn't want one. Sometimes the 17ft of shock cord that I already have is enough to get tangled up.

Rob Allen makes excellent reels as well as ulusub and riffe. There all pricey. But and extra shaft and some good gloves, can't beat it!
