beginner freediving help please!
I Just moved to the area and struck an interrest in spear fishing. I spent a few hours splashing near the artificial reef at perdito key today but visibility in the water was very poor, I could hardly see my friend from 4 feet away. Needless to say I didnt even see a fish. I hear theres a spot in pensacola beach thats supposed to be decent and may try that next. The water appears clearer there.
Ive trolled a little on theforum and know I cant do jetties and even if you are 100 yards from a beach its still a gray area when it comes to legality. Id like to persue spear fishing but dont have a boat or means to get out of the water unless theres somewhere I can jump in.
Any help or guidance for a beginner in any way would be greatly appreciated.

Number one safety. My buddy joe does FII classes out of Destin. A lot of our diving is done in 55+ ft. A small beach reef is off the main beach if you just wanna play around, it's the park east parking lot past Portofino. I've seen some decent fish there but it won't hold steady fish. Viz is always changing with rain and tides. Check out spearboard.com alt of the guy are on there. And we post time to time when were headed out. Like I said from the beginning, safety is a big issue so look into it.
