Default 5/25 New Dive Buddies

Late report from Friday.

Met up at MBT with some new folks that I had never been out with before. Head over to Sherman Cove and off we go at 0800 to our first dive of the day about 27 miles from the pass. We were greeted with smooth/flat seas and made short work of the distance.

First dive was really a bust for fish, so we move to the next spot and it's loaded. I ran out of space on my stringer. Not a bad problem to have I suppose. Loaded it with trigger and red grouper.

Next spot turned out to be a decent dive. Not a whole lot of fish but added 3-4 more triggers.

Next spot was a memorial reef sunk in honor of a friend's father that passed away a few years ago. It had not been fished or touched since. It was a nice reef with a lot of fish on it. Got some video for the family too.

Headed to the final dive spot and got a shovel nose. I spent most of my dang air getting the anchor out of the reef. By the time I got that all squared away, I had time to look and find one lobster.

Headed back in and back on the hill by 3:30pm. Had a full fish box with a mixed bag of Triggers, Mangroves, Red Grouper, Flounder, Almaco Jacks, and shovel nose,

It was nice meeting some new folks to dive with and look forward to another trip. Thanks to Mike (PompNewbie) for being our bubble watcher out there.

Water is warming up nicely out there. And the viz was awesome at 70+ feet at most spots between 27 miles out and 17 miles from the pass.

No pics. Cleaned the fish and realized I had not taken a pic all day. But Brandon (MillerTime) and Matt (amnbowser) have video of all the dives. Hope they post it up soon.
