after you shoot what keeps your gun pointed down, mine heads for the moon with no shaft in it.

I think it is actually water getting into the gun and making it stay down. I shoot an aluminum gun and I think water must be sneaking in the stock of the gun. I would prefer it to float and be out of the way. I'll do some investigating and let you know for sure.
