Default 2/8 Freedive Spearing in Destin. AJ's

Had the pleasure of freediving out of destin with Mike from Benthic ocean sports (addict'd) and a full crew of 7 Freedivers including dagfish and lyterkillsling Hit a few close spots and made a run to 1 deeper wreck. I ended up sticking a nice AJ on the deeper wreck. Bad murk layer from 40-55ft. Chumming was bringing them up well but they would not pass the murk. This fish was shot at 62ft and weighed 39lbs. Water temp was 56 nearshore and 62 offshore. Shot another keeper Aj and saw some nice gags and red snappers along the way. Can't wait for spring. That ride back was freezing!!! Awesome crew and day on the water though. Stoked to see a solid group of great Freedivers. Hate I didn't get it weighed on a certified scale for the tourney. I'll get a bigger one next time though haha

Badass - my goal for this year is to get more comfortable going under unassisted. What type of gun are you shooting? I've only done snapper with my pole spear so far

Thanks!! My regular gun is a 120cm Aimrite super venom (carbon/Kevlar) with a reel. I also have a larger Aimrite with a float system for pelagics.

Good shooting dude! Had a good time out there. Also highly recommend getting a course setup with Joe, it will drastically improve your comfort level and capabilities immediately plus it could save your life!
