Default 09/08/2013 report

Great day on the water! We hit some natural bottom in hopes for some lobster. If lobster hunting skills were ranked 1-10 (10 being the best) I'm a solid 2.1543231. We had one more of equal skill on the boat. And two who had no experience. We managed 4 for 16. 2 had eggs. The others went toe to toe with rookies and won. Vis was 15 ft clear, 20 ft hazy. The bottom was heavily covered in silt. Plenty of snapper to see. Saw a decent gag, but my gun was 10' away due to buggin'. One nice flounder hit the cooler.
The moon jellies are THICK up to about 11 miles out. They are less THICK past that. They stayed in the top 15fsw, which made for a pleasant deco stop. Water temp at 20fsw was 92 (I kid you not). Coldest temp was 73. 130fse max depth.

Nice report! How many of the bugs were spiney vs Shovels? the last three trips we've made, we've encountered those Moons all the way to 36 miles from the pass and all the way to 140' deep!

Oh well, it could be worse...it could be those darned Portuguese we had last winter!

They were all shovels. A few were BIG, but those had the eggs.

I agree about the jellies last (5)years. Those (what I call "popcorn" man o wars) can get piled up en masse.
