Default Blue Cat state record broke on the Choctawhatchee River

For the second time in a row the Florida State Record for Blue Catfish has been broken on the Choctawhatchee River. At the tournament in Caryville, FL today Bill Stewart brought home a blue cat reported to weigh 69.5 pounds. The scoreboard shows 68.88 but word was circulating that the actual certified weight was 69.5. Either weight breaks the old record of 65 pounds caught just a few years ago on the same river.

I didn't stay for the final ceremony trophy awards, the payout, and the official announcement on the record breaker official weight.but it will be all over the internet before the day is out, and probably local area TV news this evening.

Here is a slide show of the event. Bill Stewart is the guy in the tan shirt with the Big Blue. The photos were taken at random and not edited or organized.

Wondering if he was using that zebco 33 spooled with stren 12lb line, mustad hooks and uncle henry's cat-fish dough balls, all the while splash fishing from his bass-pro jon-boat with the minn-kota 42lb thrust motor, drinking his favorite bud light suds being kept ice-cold in his 7-day igloo ice-cooler?

Curious tho.. the catfish tournament was for flathead catfish. So does this mean he wasn't eligible for for any cash prizes b/c his fish was a blue cat?

According to the tournament advertising flyer the only mention of flatheads is for winner of total flathead weight. Any catfish goes for the other categories.
