Default Went to Crystal River last weekend to escape the wind...

...and found more wind!!! Up to 25 knots to be exact. Still, me and my pops hadn't fished in a little while so we trucked through it and fished our favorite windy day spots. Not gonna lie, it was tough, but we caught several nice Snook up to 35" and a couple slot Reds. Not a bad afternoon really and fish or no fish, I always love being on the water with my old man. Caught everything on the Unfair Rip N Slash. That biggest Snook had me wrapped way up in the mangroves but I got him out somehow. All fish released minus one slot Red.

Do you camp when you go down there? I have wanted to go and catch a snook for years.

I have a place to stay there but have camped in other areas of Florida's west coast. There are campgrounds in Crystal River though and some pretty cheap hotels as well.

I don't take it for granted either. I hang out and take him fishing every chance I get.

I figured you must have made a run down when you started posting Snook pics on the other media! Lol. Love those line-siders!

I had two days Mike! Had to leave early early morning Sunday, fish sunday from noon to dark, run around with the fee-on-say all day Monday and then head home Tuesday for my seminar at Legendary marine. Hectic, but always worth it.

That was my dad's last request "he wanted to go fishing one last time." My brother took him. I didn't know it at the time. We never were close.
