Super Strike Charters--Inshore Venice, La.
Venice, La. Inshore Fishing Report—Super Strike Charters-5/31/2015.
The inshore fishing for Red fish and Specks has been very good. The trout bite has been a little more sporadic for us than the redfish, but we have had a lot of windy weather in the second half of May, which kept us from getting to the better areas for Trout this time of the year, since most of those are in open water. The Red fish bite on the other hand was much better in the last two weeks of May than in the early parts. We have had a big mix of different sized Reds. The Bulls are in there usual areas, along the beaches and at the end of some of the points. The slot reds have been hanging on just about any point or in the corners of the ponds or strips of cane. We are catching a good amount of fish on Gulp baits, they have been working as good as live or dead shrimp so either one of those are putting a wide variety of inshore species in the box. This past week each group we had were able to catch their limit of reds, along with a few trout, sheephead, and drum. Most of the reds were in the 20-24 inch range, which is as good as it gets as far as keeper size goes. As we move into June the temperatures will be on the rise making for a better morning bite, along with earlier falling tides. On the cooler days the fish wouldn’t bite good until around 10:00 or later, and low tide was later as well, but those are long gone at this point. We still have open days to fish this month and next and it should be excellent. You can mix it up a little with some offshore fishing as well to get the full Venice fishing experience.
