Default St Joe Bay Scallop report 9/18-19....

Left Navarre early Friday morning for our annual Scallop pilgrimage. Got over there and the folks at the Mainstay Suites got us checked in early. Got everything set up and hit the water around 2pm. Reports were centered around the inside or east of Blacks. We launched out of Presnells & hit our "honey hole" which we do every year. ( about 8/10s out of the Presnell channel then left to the potholes) They were there with nary another boat around. Late season grade which was nice. We worked the pothole edges and slowly moved south. Water levels were mainly 3-4 ft. Clouds rolled in which hurt the vis a bit & the family complained of being cold.....imagine that! We were done by 5pm with a little more than 6 of a 8 gallon limit. Saturday was just a brilliant day with a light NE wind (Yes the flys were there both days) We got on the water @ 11am & picked up were we left off. Working the potholes and gradually moving to the south. We had our limit by 3pm. One other boat figured out our area but gave us plenty of space but I swear people run over scallops to get to scallops! There was light traffic due to it being late in the year but it was all centered inside of Blacks. Talked to 2 boats that worked that area with multiple people. One report was 30+ the other was 6. Can't say enough about the folks at Mainstay, our first time there and they accomadated our every need. Let us wash and flush the boat. They have 2 large grills in the back so we got some steaks, potato salad, salad, & bread along with Scallops to cook out on Sat. night. We will definatly be staying with them again. Ate pie at Joe Mamma's Fri. night & it was good as always. With a heavy heart we pulled out Sunday & made it home safely. I just love it over there so much. The season is almost over but if you have a chance head over & hit the holes as they are there for the taking.

Default Great Place

We drove over and back from Navarre on 9/20/15. Quick limits and cleaned on the boat. We too love that place. They should delay opening the season to let the scallops get larger. They are double the size from opening day.
