Default Mosquito Lagoon-Indian River 9/17 and 9/20

9/17
Woke up around 5:30 with intentions of getting in the water by 7. Got to the fisrt spot to see it there was any way to get into the lagoon by foot since i would be wade fishing the whole time. Saw a red tailing in the estuary next to where i parked so i threw a lure to see if he was hungry. He wasnt but the alligators were. Left that spot since it was "taken" already. Found another but bad storms and wind rolled in. so scrubbed the trip and went back to the hotel to sleep then check out the afternoon bite. Stopped by a few bait shops looking for info but wasnt given much. Finally found a place to access the water but there was no grass or cover so no fish other than pufferfish hanging under mangrove trees. Sometime 6-7 under one branch. Caught one puffer and got out of the water just before sunset.

9/20
Slept in and took my girlfriend to her friends house to visit while I tried for a different location. A few nights spent staring at google satelite gave me a few ideas of places to enter the water at. The only place i tried had a relatively easy access with rocks and mangoves leading in. Lots of rocks and mud and had a fairly deep channel running parallel to the shore so i couldnt go out too far from the mangroves. Tossed a few different lures and retrieves for about 2 hours till i finally got a hit on a topwater lure. Switched to a suspending twitchbait and landed a decent trout. I thought I had figured out the pattern and technique but only caught two more small trout.

Glad to be back home to the bay I know what works!!!!! And i dont have to pack heat for dealing with the locals, including the two legged ones.
smooth move likes this.
