Default Just a few - Choctaw bream

Well, this getting up late and leaving town at 8am to go river fishing has about come to a screaching halt...in my book. Up in the morning we now have summer heat, so it's going to be early rise, go early, and quit early. I don't intend to fight the heat.

Partner and I left town at 5:30 this morning and was motoring down Black Creek near Freeport at 6:15. We got off to a very slow start putting meat in the box. Hard fishing...just one here and there. I don't think we caught two in one spot.

With the heat buildup about 10:30 we started making our way back to the landing. Stopped in Mitchell River and picked up a few eater size bream.Great bait size for the flathead folks.

Partner woke us up with a 1.13 lb. shellcrackr, but there was no repeat. We ended up with 15 to 20 eater bream.

I can stand it - if Iím catching a few, or at least getting a few bites. Gotta get in the shade otherwise. Nice catch!

When the sun gets high there is very little shade to come by

That's a stud shellcracker JB. Hard to believe it was by itself this time of year.

We're going to try Yates today. Hope the water has cleared so we can see the beds.
