Default Venice Tuna Wahoo, Cobia

Had another great trip with Paradise Outfitters, plan was for tuna at the shrimp boats but with the rough seas last week and the lack of tuna behind the boats Wednesday, Capt Hunter made the call to hit the platforms, he had a good day Wednesday so here we go. Bait was easy, first one down lasted about 5 minutes. Caught 3 there and then they were down. After 4 more platforms with no tuna we decided to try for wahoo. Stretch goes out stretch gets nailed! About a 15 pounder and while we are getting it in it gets smoked by a bigger Hoo! We ended up with 3 nice wahoo and lost 2 super nice ones. Then we made the long run west to slam the cobia. Capt Woody and I agreed that was as much fun as you can have. Get hooked up and have 3 to 5 more following them and before you know it 3 are hooked and gaffs are flying, capt's falling down, cobia flying over the sides and I learned a real good lesson about not sticking your hand close to a cobias mouth! OUCH! Great trip with great friends.

Understand as the forecast was calling for 3 to 5 in the afternoon. We did not go to the platform of choice because of it. Last weeks high seas brought the boats back in and they really didnt get to fish much. You will most likely hit it just right. If they can fish for a while the big girls will be there. Saw a couple guys come in that had been to the boats but only had small blackfin. But they also had a 50# wahoo. Again the cobia are thick and fairly easy. Good luck.
