Default sunday 9/7 at nipple-spur-elbow

left perdido pass sunday morning and headed out to the nipple. looked like some temp breaks on hiltons east of the elbow and so we trolled from nipple to 131 and then to the east of the elbow. water was blue green and we trolled a couple of small rips but no knockdowns. got bored and headed out to the spur. water was a nice blue. lots of plankton on top. trolled the contour and got one knockdown but couldnt keep him on the line. trolled a little longer and decided to head back in for some bottom bumping. while cruising in saw some tuna free jumpingin 1000 ft water. we headed towards them with poppers ready but they soundedalmost as fast. head north again and another few miles found a patch of grass in 800 foot of water. wecreep up to it and there is bait all over the place. everyoneis getting rodsready whenmr. wahoo comes swimming slowly by the boat about 15 feet below the surface. then anotherone comes by anda third one shows as well. we were in awe as we have never seen wahoo just hang out.we lose sight of themand my buddy jasonhooks up a nice tripletail on aballyhoo. we pulled two tripletail and a chicken dolphin off of this patch. meanwhile, my8500 witha cigar minnow starts screaming and 15 minutes later we put a 30 lbhoo in the boat. the other wahoo came back by the boat several timesbut we could not persuade them to eat. mybuddy had one chase his dead cigto the boat andturn at the last second.headed to theyellow gravel for a quick drop to get a grouper. pulled up a couple of beeliners and could not getpast the sharks on the grouper baits. it was getting late so we called it a day.

blue hoo thanks for the advise. i did try dropping a big williamson jig but couldnt get them to feed on it. i was dropping it down about 100 feet and varying retrieves from reeling fast to jigging it. i will have to try dropping it a little deeper next time and maybe try some different size jigs.
