Default Spur & back on Monday 5/23....

3 man crew, had the lines in at 6:30 am at the edge. Fished and ran our way out to the Spur. Water was cobalt @ about 40 miles. Lot's of flyers. Headed the boat NW. Fished some more. Ran back in a ways and found a gorgeous rip about 10 miles ENE of the Nipple. Worked it hard without a bite. Ran N and in about 550' we came up on a white free jumping that put on quite a show. Lines back in.....nada. Ran N and in the next hour we worked 4 giant schools of Blackfins. They wanted nothing to do with anything we showed them. By now the frustration was mounting! Stopped at the hill and gave it one last shot. Saved the trip in 195' with a decent Hoo. Still a long day with not much to show for it. If you have the chance get offshore as the water out there is some off the prettiest I've ever seen in the N gulf!

Great report, curious on the blackfin, were you using flourocarbon leaders when throwing at them? What all did you throw at them?

It had to be a match the hatch situation because we attacked them every way we could. Trolling our spread, pitching cigs, using poppers, ect. They wanted no part of what we offered!
