We set off for YFT, and we scored.
Left the dock Monday morning working our way out, starting at the Marlin, then SSE ending up at Ensco 8505, where we spent the night catching some huge BFT and an occasional YFT on chunks, live bait (Cigar Minows), and some on Poppers. The first YFT came on a popper, the rest were on chunks, all about 45#. Never put a scale on them, but that is close. When the sun came up there was a short surface eruption that we were unable to capitalize on, and we decided to make the run in. After picking our way through some storms we made it back to the inlet when the Blue Angels were up flying so we reduced to an idle and enjoyed the show. Had several on board who have never had the experience of seeing them so it helped make their trips. Made it to the inlet where FWC came to visit. One guy jumped on board knowing we had caught based on the blood our clothes were sporting, looked at fish and my HMS permit and was on their way. Very friendly guys and I want to thank them, I never mind being stopped when the guys are quick, friendly and doing their job as professionals. Made it to the ramp and time to clean up the mess.
Was a great trip with some old and some new friends. Most who had never done anything like this but most of them pitched in and made us run like a well oiled machine. I will be doing a similar trip on Thr/Fri, and after I finish that and make the tow back home to South Fla I will try to add some pictures. Won't likely happen till after the 4th.
Thank you for the info and intel that lead up to this trip, for those of you that helped contribute. I owe it to you and if your ever coming down to S Fla anywhere between Stuart and Ft Lauderdale please reach out to me and the favor will be repaid.
