Default Proteus - 7/1/2017

Arrived at the Proteus late Friday nite and fished thru the nite. The water was near dead calm, clear blue, covered in spotty grass. There wasn't much surface activity from either flying fish or tuna. The bite never really turned on for us until about 0230 and only on the chunk. No activity with jigging and the BFT that we finally started landing were all decent sized and gotten deep using weights. We brought along a flat of northern mackerel and used it until we finally landed some small BFT. As usual, the bite was the best between 0430-0630. We landed one YFT about 0530 that went #106. In total, we put 12 large sized BFT and one YFT on the boat. There were several boats around thru the nite and it didn't appear they were doing much. To our surprise most departed by 0500 when things were getting good. Anyways, the Proteus has slways come thru for us. She may be slow or spuradic thru the nite but we have never been let down during the golden hour. Tight Lines!
