Default RE: Heading Out Tonight, Any Info?

There was a guy post a report from this weekendon THT... Hope he doesn't mind me pasteing it here, if so I'll delete..

Left Billy Goat Hole 430am sat. 9/27, headed toward Ram Powell, stopped & loaded up with live bait on the way. Arrived at Neptune "Beer Can" at 7am. No YF.... No Bait Schools... No other boats... nothing. Headed on towards the Ram. Halfway there we saw what thought were YF busting, making spray, about a mile to the west, so we headed that way. About 100 yds out realized it was spray from a blow hole... got a little closer and sure enough about a 40ft sperm whale was gliding along just on top barely moving. We got within 100 ft of it and took some pictures it sounded a couple of times maybe 30 ft then back up again. The third time it sounded straight down, tail out of the water and went out of sight. It was awesome! The show was over so we went on to the Ram. Still no boats, no bait schools, and you guessed it, no yellow fin. It was like a ghost town all around. We saw one center console heading north around 830 off to the west of RP, and one 40ft ish size sportfisher, headed north also. Did we miss the "no tuna" bulletin this weekend or what? LOL... Two weekends ago the YF were everywhere around the RP and the Beer Can. We caught 4 that day and 3 the trip before. Anyway we headed east to the Marlin, still nothing but a broken weed line. It got a little better further to the east so we trolled up a few schoolies until the north wind broke up the weed line again. Decided to head north, got a couple of AJs, Kings, and Grey Snapper to finish off the day, not a total loss especially with Whale bonus. It was a beautiful day, 1 -2's, the water was clear blue almost cobalt from the beer can to the RP and Marlin and blue green at the Petronious. Let me know if anyone had a better report for this area. We couldn't find anything great going on. Another day...

we were at the Ocean Confidence and the ram last night. it was dead! if you want black fin you could load the boat at the ram. we jumped off a white sat. around 11:30 am and lost a blue at the transom today!! we brought home 5 dolphin and a few black fin (bait). the water was the best i have seen this year. the seas where non- existent. i can't believe how calm it was for the whole trip. good luck to ya!!
