Default Friday night /Saturday report offshore

Headed out of panama city friday night late , got to the area we wanted to fish around 2:30 am. In went the sword baits , one bite with no hook up's when first light came. The water was blue green , but not the blue we were looking for. We began to run westtoward the spur and started to find some nice patches , but no lines. We made bait and began to look for dolphin. The second large patch we foundwas loaded with bait and a school of 15-20 pound dolphins. We hooked two and some how lost the school being half asleep and not chumming ? so we trolled on to the next area of patches and picked up a dolphin here and there. Then we found a nice pallet and scored two more nice dolphin to 30 pounds off that and one of the smallest wahoo i have ever seen or caught around 2.5 pounds on a jig. We were off to a good start with 6 nice dolphin in the boat by 10 am , but then a huge storm came in a blew us out and off the area we were fishing. We skirted the storm for 2 hours and finally made the decsion to move in a bottom fish. That turned out to be a bad idea as we caught 2 scamp and one snapper and a oddassortment of trash fishfor our efforts. Hind Side 20/20 we Probably should have stayed offshore and worked back to the spur to sword for the night . Oh well there is always next time:banghead

No pictures this time as we were so into trying to fish , we never busted it out :banghead

Ate Fried hook and cook dinner sat. night at Pier 77 ,which was the total bomb, and watched the UFC fights afterward! nothing like eatting fresh dolphin and scamp fried , while sitting in the the AC andwatching somegood MMA fights:clap

Next time , we are staying out the second night to try and capitalize on the sword bite!

Thanks !

I can thank Forum Memeber and mentor(you know who you are)for sending me in the right direct:bowdown

But i am still kicking myself for letting a huge school dolphin to just swim off because we forgot to chum:banghead thats where the day could have ended with a dream catch.None the less to catch 6 large dolphin fish on spintacklewas great great day which we are truely thankful for.

Cant wait to get another shot offshore, thats for sure.
