Default Christmas Blue Marlin

Got a call from a friend of mine last week(Fred Cardet)who owns a 38 Topaz. He was taking the boat over to venice for the lump season. He asked if I wanted to tag along, but I had to work.

Well, to make a long story short, they found a weed line by the ELF rig and nailed a 500# Blue Marlin on a Penn 9/0 trolling a high speed wahoo lure minutes after it hit the water. They got it to the boat in an hour or so.

I am trying to get pics.

Nice job Fred!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the report. It is always good to hear about big blues being caught and release in the area this time of year. Congratulations to Fred and his crew:clap. We were out on the 25th alsotesting props. And had nothing more then 1/8 mile vis. How was the fog on the trip over to Venice? Looking forward to the pictures. Gene

I miss those "Blue Marlana" reports more than just about anyone. Hopefully, we will have some soon. Until then, I appreciate all the great tuna reports recently!!!!! Nice job guys! Those are some nice fish being caught out there.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention....they had a long wire leader on that wahoo rig! Josh, maybe we need to change things up a bit in our marlin spread!! lol
