I worked the drop off from North of the nipple, zigzaging pretty much to the elbow, cut it ese about 8 miles and worked back ton where we started. Not the first knockdown. Only fish I saw all day trolling was flyers, not even the first Bobo. No grass. Water was best east of the elbow.

Stopped a bit to bottom bump and had some decent schoolis dolphin show up. Caught seven, lost a decent gaffer though on the flat line.

Lots and lots of boats maybe some one else did better...

Same for us we trolled north to north west of the nipple and one unknown whack at my flippy floppy and green machine, and one short strike on a blue and white ballyhoo. We didn't troll long and went bottom fishing..... good day on the water though!

We trolled around the Nipple, 131 Hole, and the drop-off in those areas on Friday. Fished there because Hilton's was showing prettier water than at the Elbow.

Saw some fliers and no grass. Caught one decent cow dolphin and one schoolie dolphin...both on blue & white Ilander with ballyhoo on the rigger.

We also went bottom fishing and caught some big porgies, 2 nice scamp, and lots of big red snapper off a ledge in 350' of water. Deep dropping for tilefish didn't produce anything.

We trolled the Elbow area Saturday from first light until maybe 10 AM. Big storm to the east mixed with the normal seas from the west created a washing machine effect that wasn't pleasant. Granted, we are trolling morons, but we had four bites that produced no fish.

We had only 3 lines out; a Yozuri Bonita trembler close to the stern, a Wahoo Whacker behind a trolling lead way back, and a cedar plug behind a large bird in the middle. First strike was on the cedar plug and it actually pulled some drag before coming unbuttoned. Next, the Whacker got whacked without hooking up. Then the trembler got hit and the fish ran toward the boat with it, 'cause the line went completely slack (at 8.5 mph) and then it spit the lure without hooking up! Supwiddat? I personally sharpened all the hooks until I was scared of them. Last but not least, something hit the trolling lead and cut off the Whacker for crying out loud.

Heading in at about 25 miles out, we found a line trying to either form or break up with scattered weeds and trash, but we failed to find a mahi or any other life after following it for 2 or 3 miles.

Bodupp - Sounds like a wahoo bite on the one swimming at the boat....also on the lead that got whacked. Too bad that they didn't stick for you...

Yeah, that's what we were thinking. Either bite would have been a trip saver if we had landed them.

Sunday trolled edge to nipple 5 lines tried a variety. 3 hookups, 1 mahi about 4 lbs landed. pretty dismal for trolling which is normal for me. Water was pretty blue, flyers everywhere, and 1 giant turtle.
