Wednesday QUICK trip.
Got up around 330 this morning with my nephew and headed down to Eglin. Got everything loaded up and in the water by 5. Checked the pin fish traps which only produced a few good sized pin fish. Wanted more pinfish so we stopped around the Destin marina and caught about 20 more pinfish and a mixture of a few othernever things. Headed out with squid and a bait well full of pinfish. 85 feet and first drop within 2 second of flipping the bail I was on with my first fish. Nice AJ that came in at a good 35 inches and then 10 minutes later the little man pulls up a 7 pound grey snapper. 20 minutes later, SAME SPOT, BAM!!! Second AJ that came in at 40 inches. We had so much meat and ran out of cooler space that we were done heading back in at 830 with a full cooler and 50 pounds of fish. Never even got to the triggerfish.
Great Day and we had a blast!!! Smooth as could be water!! |

I can't remember the last time I went out for 3 hours and returned with a boat load of fish. I'm jealous! We went out Friday and it took us all day to get one AJ...but it weighed 47#s so we were happy.
