Default Out Of Destin 03/21/19

We got a late start (wanted it to warm up a little) so hit the water about 10. Never let Logan really captain the boat so I said today is your day!!! Winds out of the east and the bay jarred your teeth so I was not looking forward to the gulf... but I still let Logan do the work. I sat back and watched as he handled everything like me... that can be good or bad depending on who you are!!! Alot of folks on the jetties and around the bridge so I told him that meant they weren't out!!! Pass was rolling pretty hard. I think NOAA was 2-4 so I figured 3-5... Made it interesting trying to show how to tie some knots and rigs while trying not to beat your head into crap!!! Did bang my head into the Ttop bar but it didn't even bend!!! Imagine that!!! We hit some close spots and marked tons of fish but no keepers. Ran over some huge baitballs in 50-60 ft of water and marked bigger fish around them so threw big jigs down and basically trolled SLOW spot to spot (helped it was rough and had to go slow anyways) and nothing. Decided to go deeper and hit a couple more spots, ended up picking up 1 keeper trig, 1 keeper mingo, 1 keeper almaco!!! Several short fish were boated. Logan caught a bunch of snapper, I didn't catch a one!!!

We saw several sea turtles with one coming up right at the boat to say HI!!!

Catching sucked but spending time with Logan is priceless since he was back from college and hadn't had a chance to get out! He did good coming back in even though the winds shifted, once we hit the bay it was slicked over so he got to open her up a bit. Saw a bunch of new buoys in a line at crab island that ran east west I have never noticed before???

Ohhhh well, glad we got out and at least enjoyed our time together!!!

Great day on the water w/ son making memories no doubt!
Yepper, tis the turtle season, if it were slick out there, they would resemble old land mines as far as the eye can see.
