Default Not to Bad for an Old guy an 8 year old girl

I took my little girl out today. Beautiful day to be out there a bit crowded but thats the way it is when you work during the week. Hit a few spots close found a floating log pulled some chicken dolphins off it. I had a real nice one pull off at the boat which sucked. But my little girl was able to land the biggest one we caught and she got real excited. So made it out to a favorite non private spot with no one on it and landed 2 nice Mingo's. Decided to head to another spot that was not so public to try and get a couple legal snapper since all I could pull up was shorts and get the girl on a legal fish. Well that was no problem once I got there got my limit in a matter of minutes. I was baiting her rod and I would also drop and I would put her rod in the rod holder and when it bent over she would just reel. She is only 8 remember. Well her rod kept getting bent over and she was reeled in a monster trigger with no help from me but steading the rod for her. She started reeling in a snapper I laid my Talica 12II on its rod across the back of my boat across a seat did not pull my bait all the way out of the water in my haste to help her. Next thing I know a Ramora came up grabbed the bait and pulled my rod and reel off the boat to the bottom of the gulf. All I saw was the gold reel sinking and I was sick to my stomach. I finished helping her bring in the biggest snapper of the day. It was a good trip except for the reel mishap. It was my fault and my daughter felt horrible and she thought it was hers and I explained to her it was just a careless and costly mistake on my part and she did nothing wrong. She had a good time and so did I can't beat that. The last picture is of her on the ride home thats what happens when you get them up at 4AM LOL!!!!

Way to put the little one on some fish dad !! That's what it's all about, making memories with your kids. Worth way more than 10 of those reels that was lost. You did good
