Forecast looked good for an offshore trip. A bit snotty headed out but smoothed out at the Edge.

Headed to a proven spot but had a good show on the way so dropped down a test rig. MONGO! Got a drift set up and caught several nice ones. Dropped the hook and it was on! 3 person limit in under an hour. The wife (no pics) was catching mongos 2 at a time. Joel (best mate in the Gulf) caught a scamp.

With 30 in the box, headed offshore for some trolling. Hit 300 ft and saw something floating... it's a net bouy. Then we saw more ... 6 in all. But the first one held the fish. Caught a mahi on a bird. Spun around and caught another trolling. Tossed some cut bait. Caught one more then the sea lit up with them. But they wouldn't hit anything. We weren't prepared. No bucktails or gotchas. Next time. Did catch a short triple tail.

Tried some deep dropping, caught a porgie. Trolled in for a bit but nothing, so headed in on smooth seas. UNTIL... 15 miles out got snotty again.

Home by 4:30, fish cleaned, boat put up for deer season. Great day on the Gulf! And my wife is a fish killer!
